Oblige is a word we like because it means being glad to look after someone. That is the whole business.
The skipper
The owner is aboard every Oblige week. He plans the route, runs the boat, makes the weather calls and stays with the same group from boarding to the last breakfast. Off the water his background is in technology and programme management; aboard, the point is simpler: one person responsible for the boat, the route and the standard of the week.
Final commercial qualification, licence details and safety credentials will be published with the final vessel before paid bookings open.
The hostess
The host looks after the part of the week that makes the boat feel less like a rental: provisioning, breakfasts and dinners aboard, the rhythm of the shared spaces, and the practical side of going ashore. Her professional background is in marketing and communication, so guest experience and group dynamics are part of the role rather than an afterthought.
On Social weeks she also helps the Compass become a real group rather than six unrelated bookings.
Why six
Because six is the number of people who can talk at one table. Because three cabins with three bathrooms is what a 40-foot catamaran does well, and eight guests is what it does badly. Because the same two people running every week means you never board a boat we do not know.
What we are honest about
This is the launch season. Prices remain indicative until the final vessel and operating setup are confirmed. We show real destinations, real route logic and clearly labelled reference imagery where the final boat has not yet been acquired. There are no invented reviews, fake scarcity counters or hidden “last cabin” messages.
